Read before you start the apps
How the four apps hand work to each other, the installation rules that prevent most errors, and how the video numbers line up.
Read this one before you open Make. It saves time and prevents most of the errors people run into.
How the apps fit together
The system is four Make scenarios, App 2 to App 5. They run in a chain:
- App 2 reads your form submission and writes the listing: title, description, tags and alt text.
- App 3 creates the product’s Drive folder and the customer download PDF.
- App 4 finds and organises your ten listing images.
- App 5 creates the Etsy draft and uploads the images.
App 2 starts when a new row appears in your Sheet. Each app then calls the next one with a dark purple scenario call module, and App 5 sends you an email when the draft is ready.
Some of the videos were recorded before Make changed how scenarios connect, so you may hear them talk about webhooks or manual chaining. Ignore that. Everything in this course is linked with scenario calls, and the lessons here say exactly which one to pick.
How the video numbers line up
The videos are titled Automation 1 to 6. The apps are App 2 to App 5.
| Video | App |
|---|---|
| Automation 1 | This overview |
| Automation 2 and 3 | App 2, parts one and two |
| Automation 4 | App 3 |
| Automation 5 | App 4 |
| Automation 6 | App 5 |
Installation rules
Follow these exactly.
- Install one scenario at a time. Open, install, save, then move on to the next. Do not open several tabs and install at once, because Make only keeps the last one.
- Always click Save, even if you see red errors. Saving is what makes a scenario appear in the dropdown lists later.
- Link the scenarios last. Once all four are installed, use each dark purple scenario call module and pick the next scenario from its dropdown. More choices appear as you save more scenarios.
- Red dots are normal. A red dot means something still needs connecting. It is not an error, it is unfinished setup. The lessons show what to connect.
- Reconnect cleanly. When you choose a Drive folder, a Sheet or images, click the field, refresh the list, then select again. That gives a clean connection.
- Check the PDF template location. The customer PDF template lives in Automate Etsy / Docs / Templates. A wrong folder gives broken output.
If something breaks
Do not panic. Most problems are a module with a red dot that needs reconnecting, or a folder or sheet that needs selecting again. If you are still stuck, email [email protected] or ask in the Skool group.
You only do this setup once. Take your time.
