App 2: prepare listing data, part one
Import the App 2 blueprint into Make and connect your Google Sheet and OpenAI account.
The video for this lesson is titled Automation 2. App 2 is the first link in the chain. It watches your Sheet for new form submissions and writes the listing.
By the end you will have App 2 installed in Make and linked to your Google Sheet. The blueprint file is in the Skool group, or on your members page on the guided route. Download it first.
Before you start
Check that you have finished the foundation:
- The Drive structure, including Collections / Digital Products
- The form copied and connected to your Sheet
- Your OpenAI API key to hand
- Your customer PDF and product templates set up
Open two tabs side by side: Google Drive (your Automate Etsy folder) and your Make dashboard, signed in.
A note on the video. The video tells you to leave the image-analysis model on GPT-4.1, because GPT-5 could not analyse images when it was recorded. That has changed. We now suggest gpt-6-luna for both OpenAI modules in App 2: it accepts images, writes well, and costs very little to run. Step 7 shows where to set it.
Steps
- Check your folders. In Drive, make sure your spreadsheet sits in Automate Etsy / Collections / Digital Products.
- Prepare four Make tabs. In Make, open Scenarios and open four tabs, one for each of App 2 to App 5. You will install them one at a time, starting with App 2.
- Import the blueprint. Click Create a new scenario, then the three dots, then Import blueprint, and choose the App 2 file. Click Save, then Save again so you do not lose progress.
- Connect your Google Sheet. Click the first Google Sheets module (it watches for new rows). If it is not connected, click Add, sign in with Google and allow the permissions. For the spreadsheet, choose Automate Etsy / Collections / Digital Products / Digital Products. For the sheet, choose Form Responses 1. Refresh the dropdown if you need to. Set Limit to 1 while you are testing. Click Save until the red dots clear.
- Repeat for every Google Sheets module. App 2 has several. Use the same Google account, the same spreadsheet and the right tab each time. If a module still shows a red dot, open it and click Save. The warning clears.
- Reconnect Google if Make asks. Click Add, then New connection, give it a clear name such as Shop Drive, sign in, allow and save. Then select your spreadsheet again.
- Connect OpenAI and choose the model. There are two OpenAI modules in App 2: one analyses your overview image, one writes the listing. On each, click Add connection, name it (for example Shop OpenAI) and paste your API key from the OpenAI lesson, adding your organization ID if Make asks. Then set the Model to gpt-6-luna. If it is not in the dropdown yet, switch the field to mapping mode and type
gpt-6-luna. The blueprint arrives with older models selected, and they still work, but gpt-6-luna is the one we suggest. Click Save. - Set your shop details. Look at the third module in App 2, Set multiple variables, which sits right after the first Search Rows module. It ships with three empty values. Fill in shopname with your Etsy shop name and shopemail with the address that should receive the “draft ready” email from App 5. Leave memberId empty. These values travel down the whole chain, so if shopemail is empty the final email has nowhere to go. Click Save.
- Final save. Save every module and confirm there are no red dots left.
Keep in mind
- Your spreadsheet lives in Automate Etsy / Collections / Digital Products.
- shopname and shopemail are set once, in App 2, and used all the way to App 5.
- Refresh and save each module as you go.
- Do not change settings the lesson does not mention.
- Save often.
