App 2: prepare listing data, part two

Finish App 2 by setting the product-type routes, connecting the templates and results sheets, and linking it to App 3.

The video for this lesson is titled Automation 3. It finishes App 2. By the end, App 2 will be fully connected and ready to hand each product to App 3.

What to expect

Pick up in Make where part one left off, with your Google Sheets modules and your OpenAI connection in place. The listing text is written by an OpenAI module. If you did not already set its model in part one, set it to gpt-6-luna now, the same way: a capable, low-cost model that we suggest for this module. A smaller model gives simpler results and a larger one costs more, so gpt-6-luna is the sensible middle.

A note on the video. This video still shows you creating a webhook and pasting its URL into a purple module at the start of App 2. Do not do that. Automation 1 explains that scenario calls replaced webhooks, and the blueprint already uses them, so step 7 below has you choose App 3 from a dropdown instead. The video also shows the older GPT-5 model on the listing module. We now suggest gpt-6-luna there instead.

Steps

  1. Skip the modules in the middle. After the listing module there are around nine more. They need no changes. Scroll to the next Google Sheets module.
  2. Set the product-type filters. The Product Type you choose in your form decides which route a product takes. Each route has a filter. Copy a product type exactly as it appears in your form, for example JPG. Open that route’s Filter and paste it into the Equals field. It must match exactly, with the same spelling and capitalization. Click Save.
  3. Link your product templates. Open the next Google Sheets module. Select Automate Etsy / Collections / Digital Products / Digital Products. Refresh the dropdown, select Form Responses 1, then switch it to Product Templates. Click Save. This is how the template text for the product type is pulled in.
  4. Store the finished listing. Open the final Google Sheets module on the route. Use the same spreadsheet. Refresh, select another sheet, then switch it to Product Data. Click Save. This is where the title, description and tags are stored.
  5. Repeat for each product type you use. Update the filter and the Sheets modules on each of the other routes in the same way.
  6. Disable what you do not use. If you only sell one or two product types, right-click each unused route, choose Disable, and click Save.
  7. Link App 2 to App 3. Each route ends with a dark purple scenario call module. First install App 3: create a new scenario, import the App 3 blueprint, and click Save. You can ignore any temporary error. Then go back to App 2, open each purple scenario call module and choose App 3 from the dropdown. Click Save.
  8. Final save and check. Save every module. Confirm there are no red dots, that unused routes are disabled, and that every scenario call points at App 3.

Keep in mind

  • Always use your own Digital Products spreadsheet.
  • Product-type filters control the route a product takes.
  • Templates are pulled from the Product Templates tab, one column per product type.
  • The scenario call is what passes each product from App 2 to App 3.
  • Save often and refresh connections.

Next: App 3.
